Westwood Leather Co is a one-woman show led by Olivia D'Alessandro. Olivia has a background in fashion design with a special interest in slow fashion and high-quality materials that are designed to get better with age, instead of wearing out. Through her extensive travels, she was searching for a way to create with hand tools alone and stumbled upon leatherwork. She made a few small projects in 2019 and dove in with both feet once the pandemic kicked off and has been creating daily ever since.
Westwood Leather Co is a Nanaimo-based maker of handcrafted leather goods from wallets to bags to dog collars. Each item is made of high-quality leather from Canadian suppliers sourcing only the finest hides from ethical tanneries in the USA and Europe. Everything is sewn, cut, and finished by hand, and beautifully marries minimalist design with functional durability.
