Dan Hurd is a father of two, a full-time prospector and a famous YouTube creator with 1.26 million followers. A retired high school teacher who was originally trained for teaching shop classes but moved into career education. Dan always loved the outdoors and brought his love of geology and prospecting to the classroom with a mining class he taught for several years. Now he teaches to a larger audience via YouTube. Over the years, Dan has specialized in BC's precious and semi precious gemstones - from jade to sapphire. Dan is known primarily for his Ocean Picture Stone, as his quarry in southern BC is the only know deposit of this gemstone in the world.
BC ocean picture stone is a semi-precious stone that, when cut properly, reveals an ocean scene: a quartz white sky, a blue chalcedony sea, and a country stone shoreline. At the show, Dan will have a wide variety of products, ranging from rough stone direct from the quarry to cut and polished pieces. Price ranges for the rough and display pieces will be from $25 to $2500. He will also have a wide selection of finished fine jewelry with a price range from $50 to $800. Dan and his father produced the finished pieces and the jewelry from this stone and other BC stones. All jewelry is mounted with sterling silver or quality lead-free findings.
