Caitlyn Chapman is a jewellery designer and metalsmith based in Victoria, BC. With a background in the fine-art and fashion worlds, she strives to create pieces that are bold yet very wearable, for every gender, featuring sculptural nature-inspired textures and forms. Working in recycled sterling silver and gold, her process includes both hand fabrication and in-house creative casting. Each piece is formed with texture & flow intended to evoke feelings of the surf, earth, flora & fauna of our beautiful coastal home, in an abstract way. Caitlyn’s work is known for its luscious textures and ability to combine organic texture, sparkly gemstones, and polished wearability. Juxtaposition is an important element in every piece. Her designs hit a sweet spot where unusual form & texture aren’t daunting to wear, and jewellery becomes wearable art & expression.
Most of my pieces begin as a lump of wax that I hand-sculpt into little works of art that we then cast in metal. I sometimes begin with sketches, but tend to prefer to decide as I sculpt how a piece will look, following the creative flow.
