Caraluna – meaning “beloved moon” in Gaelic/Latin and “moon face” in Spanish – is the indie-world-folk project of singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Jesse Edward Thom. His debut solo album, Snowdragons, received critical acclaim and was named one of the top ten albums of the year by Folk Radio UK. Inspired by artists like Jacques Brel and Yann Tiersen, Thom’s music blends evocative melodies with poetic reflections drawn from his travels across Latin America, Spain, the UK, and Canada. His work is also influenced by Sacred Clowning, a practice he studied under master teacher Didier Danthois in Tenerife, Spain. Based in the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, Caraluna’s sound centers around Thom’s warm vocals and delicate guitar, woven with lush instrumentation – horns, accordion, piano, bass, and drums – creating an intimate yet expansive musical experience. A dedicated meditation practitioner and instructor, Thom infuses his music with a sense of presence and connection to the natural world. His songs invite listeners to slow down, reflect, and rediscover the beauty and harmony found in stillness.
