Lana Kirk Woodworks

BIO

Lana Kirk is a woodturner based out of the booming metropolis of Langford BC. After a long career of bookkeeping and the boredom of Covid lockdown - she ventured into the world of woodturner. What started as a hobby turned (pun intended) into a business venture using locally sourced wood.

CRAFT

Often the wood dictates the design of the item. I have a general idea of what I want to make, however sometimes the wood has cracks in and what starts out as a massive bowl can turn into a small bowl. I generally have a rough idea of what I want to turn and then the wood "tells" me what is going to happen (or not happen)I turn each item by hand using a lathe in my shop. I sometimes get some people to help with sanding but each item is turned by myself using either locally sourced woods or ethically sourced hardwoods around the province. I am often using maple, walnut or any hard-woods I can find (sometimes ditches) to turn them into vases, bowls, trees, platters, French rolling pins, etc. Each item is one of a kind and not mass produced.
