Carol Borrett - Westcoast Watercolour

BIO

Carol was born in Calgary. When she attended the University of British Columbia she spent time marvelling at the beauty of the west coast and was captivated by the water. She taught both Special Needs programs as well as Art at the high school level for many years in various parts of British Columbia. She relocated to Vancouver Island in 1986 and has made this her home. She recently retired from teaching to focus on her painting. Maple Bay, just outside of Duncan, is where her home/studio is located.

CRAFT

Carol Borrett paints in watercolours and acrylics. Much of her inspiration comes from her travels around Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. Her award-winning paintings are realistic and reveal her fascination with water, boats, and reflections. Her work captures the varied moods of the coastal area and way of life with a unique perspective. The soft, subtle tones of her watercolour work are blended with a distant view to create a scene of hushed introspection. Her acrylics bring bold colours that many say give them a sense of calm. Her realistic style portrays the true west coast.
